Who we are
Screenshot OS is made by Spencer Odai, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Spencer Odai is the controller of your personal data. You can contact us at hello@screenshotos.net.
The short version
- We store what you save so the app can work for you: your account email, your screenshots and the notes, collections and reminders that go with them.
- A screenshot is sent to OpenAI only when you ask Screenshot OS to understand it, and only after you’ve allowed it.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.
What we collect and why

AI analysis and OpenAI
Screenshot OS can suggest a next step for a screenshot, for example turning an event into a calendar entry. This only happens when you tap Understand this screenshot and, the first time, allow it. When you do, that one screenshot is sent from our server to OpenAI, with your language and time zone so dates and times are read correctly, and OpenAI analyses it for us as our service provider. Nothing is sent before you allow it, and you can withdraw permission in the app under You → Privacy and your data.
OpenAI processes the image under its API terms. As those terms stand at the time of writing, OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models, and may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse. OpenAI is based in the United States; transfers are protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum. AI suggestions can be wrong. You decide what happens next. We don’t make any automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
What stays on your device
Some things never leave your phone:
- the sample library you can explore without an account;
- reminder notifications, which are scheduled on your device;
- calendar events, which you add through your device’s own calendar screen;
- screenshots shared to the app that are still waiting to upload.
Where your data is stored and who processes it
- Supabase hosts your account, library and screenshots, in London, United Kingdom. Your screenshots are stored privately and only your account can reach them. See supabase.com/privacy.
- OpenAI analyses a screenshot when you ask it to, as described above.
- RevenueCat manages Plus subscriptions with Apple and Google. It receives your account ID and your purchase history, never your screenshots. When you delete your account, we ask RevenueCat to delete its record of you too; Apple and Google keep their own purchase records. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Vercel hosts these web pages. The app sends it nothing; like any web host, it records visitors’ IP addresses in short-lived logs to run and protect the site.
We don’t share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data until you delete it or delete your account. When you delete your account in the app, your screenshots, library and login are removed straight away. Our hosting provider keeps daily backups for disaster recovery; they expire within 7 days and are not used for anything else.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how it’s used, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time. To delete your account, go to You → Manage account → Delete account in the app. For anything else, email hello@screenshotos.net from the address on your account. We’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk.
Children
Screenshot OS is not meant for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Security
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Your screenshots are kept in private storage, and database rules make sure each account can only reach its own data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
